Rodney Ray Dickson, 77, passed away on January 13, 2026, at his home in Stafford. He was born January 3, 1949, in
Stafford, Kansas, to Willard and Oneita Dickson, where he was raised on a farm south of town. He spent many years helping with the farm and tinkering in the round top on cars of any kind.
He was the definition of a down-to-earth man. As a lifelong resident of Stafford County, he was known to family and friends as a true "grease monkey." Rodney could fix just about anything. If it had an engine or needed working on, he was the one people called. He spent much of his life driving trucks and hauling silage, a job that fit him well because he never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone he met. Most days, you could find him down at Joan's eating breakfast and lunch.
Rodney was a devoted husband to his wife, Kua, whom he met while serving in Thailand. That relationship of more than 50 years witnessed many journeys together and saw their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and experience life. Their relationship was a cornerstone of Rodney's life. Her spunk and spiciness kept him on his toes and moving all the time. Her passing 4 years ago left a lasting memory.
Family meant everything to him. He deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and took pride in each of them. His legacy lives on through the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love he gave so freely. Ask any one of his three siblings, and you are sure to get an earful.
He is survived by his brother Jaye (Denise) Dickson, brother Edwin, sister Alice (Greg) Pettijohn; daughter, Seangduen (Bob) Soule, son, Robert (AnnaMaria) Dickson, and daughter, Tuanua (Josh) Swartz; grandchildren, Anthony, Kimberly, Lindsay (Scott), Amber (Matt) Vincent, Heylie (Ahmed), Brandon (Demi), Mattelyn, Jackson, Makayla, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Siynatee, Antonio, Greyson, Isabella, Jacob, Lucas, Lennon, Xaidyn, Alice, Rainbow, Malik, and Mosen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kua; grandparents; parents; sister-in-law, Jane; and son, Prasan "Bot" Meechiakum.
A memorial service will be held on January 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Minnis Chapel, with military honors. A meal and time of fellowship will follow the service. Memorials can be made to the Stafford VFW in care of the chapel. Absolutely Flowers is in charge of the family floral arrangements.
Rodney will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, love, and the impact he had on those around him.
