Rodney Dean Johnson, age 65, passed away on August 20, 2024 in Euless, Texas. Rodney was born on November 12, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas and lived most of his life in and around Mesquite, Texas.
A welder by trade, he also worked in construction and home renovation. His favorite pastime was fishing and the peace that was found in the solitude of fishing. Conversely, his favorite sport was NASCAR and the roar of the track.
Rodney was known by his family and friends as loving, a stern taskmaster, sweet, stubborn, generous, stoic and kind. Knowing his cancer was not curable, he enrolled in clinic trials at Parkland Hospital hoping that his participation would give the researchers knowledge that they could use for future patients.
Rodney was preceded death by his step-mother, Gertrice Johnson; mother, Shirley Cedello; sister, Diane Freeman; brother, Robert Johnson. He is survived by his father, Robert D Johnson; children, Amy and Matthew; stepchildren, Kevin, Kyle, and Chris; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Alpine Funeral Home located at 2300 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111 with Rev. Jerry Power officiating.
