Rodney Rhodes Obituary

Rodney Allen Rhodes, 49, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2026. He was born on February 22, 1977, in Snyder, Texas.

Rodney proudly served his country in the United States Army, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He attended Robert Lee High School and carried his strong sense of loyalty, humor, and resilience throughout his life.

On September 22, 2009, Rodney married the love of his life, Wendy Wood. Together for 23 years, they were truly soulmates-two halves that made each other whole. They were rarely seen apart, often lovingly referred to as "the redhead and blonde couple." Rodney was a proud veteran, a devoted husband, and a true family man. He was unapologetically himself-full of humor, heart, and compassion. His mission in life was simple: make people laugh. He often said that if people were laughing at him, it might spare someone else from pain. And he succeeded - Rodney brought joy to everyone he encountered.

Known as the family's "redheaded clown" and affectionately nicknamed "Cousin Eddie," Rodney embraced life with a lighthearted spirit. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose, and loved spending time outdoors. Whether it was playing frisbee golf, visiting haunted houses, enjoying putt-putt, trips to SeaWorld, amusement parks, cruises, family reunions, or simply playing games with family, Rodney found joy in life's moments-especially when shared with Wendy. No matter where they went, even a simple doctor's appointment, Rodney always made sure to turn it into something fun. If you couldn't find him, there was a good chance he was outside, enjoying the fresh air and a smoke.

Rodney was also a proud handyman who loved helping others. He never hesitated to lend a hand-whether assembling furniture or fixing something around the house. His patience was unmatched, and his willingness to help was constant.

He had a special place in his heart for his family, nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and nephew, and friends. Rodney was always there when they needed him, offering love, laughter, and support.

Rodney is preceded in death by his mother, Roxie Ross and her husband, Dennis Ross, and his mother-in-law, Pam Wood.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy Rhodes of Horseshoe Bay; his brother, Chris Ross of Brownwood; his children, Samantha Rhodes of Kingsland and Josh Rhodes of New York; his father-in-law, David Wood II; his brother- and sister-in-law, Trey and Janet Wood of Kingsland; his nieces and nephews, Garrett Wood and wife Dr. Emily Wood, Cason Wood, Courtney Johnson and husband Hunter Johnson, Seth Ross, and Emily Villafane and husband Onel Villafane; and his great-nieces and nephew, Macie Wood, West Johnson, and Mateo Villafane. Rodney also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Rodney left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His laughter, kindness, and larger-than-life personality made him truly unforgettable, as people often referred to him as "unforgettable". He will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on April 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Harrell Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave., Kingsland, TX 78639.
