Rodney D. Wiggins, 86, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah.
One of the thirteen children of Cullen Paul and Vertie Scott Wiggins, he was born in Alma, but lived in Brunswick most of his life. Rodney was a self-employed brick mason, Wiggins Masonry and Contractors, until his retirement. He enjoyed working on and rebuilding racing boats; playing in his grapevines, as his family called it, where he grew several varieties of grapes, but mostly scuppernong; and making Tabby Pavers – which he continued to do after his retirement, selling and installing his pavers all around Brunswick and St. Simons Island.
Rodney also enjoyed fishing in the river and the ocean with his wife Connie, who preceded him in death after over 60 years of marriage. It was said that Rodney lived for Connie and that his secret to their long and happy marriage was just to always agree with his wife. He was an excellent father and husband who never had a complaint. He was a Christian.
Besides his wife, Constants Loretta Clay Wiggins, he was preceded in death by three children, Rocky Wiggins, John Paul Wiggins, and Laura Wiggins, and several siblings.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Richard Wiggins, Loretta Wiggins, and Rodney C. Wiggins, all of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Stacey Phillips (Robert) of Lexington Park, MD, Charles K. Allard of Atlanta; and Hope Wiggins of Fernandina Beach, FL, and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilbert Wiggins and Darrel Wiggins; a sister, Delores Wiggins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held to honor Rodney's life at Chapel Park Cemetery on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11 am, with Elder Randy Watson officiating.
Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Rodney D. Williams.
