Rodolfo G. Joaquin, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2024. He was born in Lingayen, Pangasinan in the Philippines, on April 1, 1946, and later immigrated to the United States where he was introduced to the love of his life, Arlynn, at a New Year's Eve party. They were wed eight months later and celebrated their 51st anniversary this past August.
Rodolfo is survived by his beloved wife Arlynn Joaquin nee Pipkorn; his loving children Katherine (Marchello) Michaud, Kristilyn (Seth) Friese, and Jonathan (Erin) Joaquin; his cherished grandchildren Celestino, Sebastiano, Ilaria, Ariella, Brannon, and Kade; his dear sisters and brothers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, both here in the U.S. and in the Philippines. He was preceded in death by a brother and his parents, Necemio and Susana Joaquin.
Rodolfo received his engineering degree from Feati University in Manila and went on to build a successful career, retiring from Rexam as Senior Engineer, Production Control. Known to his nieces and nephews as “Rudy Cool”, he was fiercely independent and throughout the warmer months could be found outside in his garden, although he also looked forward to the winter snow and chilly weather. When not gardening, he kept busy with woodworking and macgyvering things that were not working around the house. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, including his pursuit of medical studies and learning different languages. Rudy also possessed a softer side, enjoying time spent with his family, popular ballads from the 60s and 70s, and going to the therapy pool at the Centre Club, where he often helped and gave advice to other patrons. He greatly appreciated the support and care from all the health care professionals that provided for him throughout his lifetime fight with chronic illnesses.
