Roel G. Hernandez

On October 20, 2025, we mourned the loss of our beloved Roel Gomez Hernandez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Known affectionately as Roy, he cherished his life by spending time with those he loved most. His greatest joy came from being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Roy proudly served in Vietnam and later medically retired from the United States Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maria Dolores “Dee” Hernandez, his sons, Andy and Anthony, his siblings, Ruben, Noelia, and Noberta, eight grandchildren, Adam, Jonathan, Evelyn, Alex, Nathan, Caden, Stacie, and Maddie, and seven great-grandchildren, Nikola, Jayden, Noah, Emma, Madilyn, Sadie, and Luke.

He loved fishing, making jerky, cooking for family and friends, and taking his grandchildren for rides around town in his beloved Hoveround.

Roy was born on June 23, 1948, in Kingsville, Texas, and passed away at the age of 77.

Funeral services will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas, on November 1 and 2, 2025. A family viewing will take place on November 1 from 10 AM to 12 PM, followed by a public viewing from 12 PM to 5 PM. Funeral services will begin at 10 AM on November 2, 2025.
