Roger Keith Barbour of Clayton, NC passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born on April 3, 1936 where he grew up and lived in Cleveland community in Johnston County.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Victor Barbour, and mother Rachel Barbour.
He is survived by his wife Vera, son Victor Barbour and wife Frances of Clayton, NC, daughter Renee Sutton of Zebulon, NC, granddaughter Crystal (Kenny) of Zebulon, NC, and great grandsons Parker, Fox, and Trevor.
Roger graduated from Cleveland High School and served in the North Carolina National Guard for 9 years.
Roger began his work life as a welder and heavy equipment repairman. He ultimately formed his own business, Industrial Welding Service, where he added structural erection and other construction services. He left his fingerprints on many buildings in the Triangle area and would be more than willing to tell you about it.
Roger really didn't have any hobbies, work was his hobby. He did love going to flea markets, trade shows, and antique equipment shows.
Roger also enjoyed blacksmithing and was a member of the North Carolina Artist Blacksmith Association for many years. One of his greatest pleasures was hosting meetings for the group at his shop. He also loved the NC State fair and was a staple at the blacksmith shop in the Village of Yesteryear.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Baptist Center Church, 2163 Ranch Road, Clayton, NC 27520 on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 11:00 am.
