Roger Hilton Barnard, 79, of Polo, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL, with his son by his side.
He succumbed to complications related to a terrible single-car accident in July 2025.
Roger was born on November 19, 1946, in Chicago, IL, the son of Stephen and Nancy (Ridley) Barnard. He married the love of his life, Judith (Farster) Willard, on March 17, 1989, in Dixon. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2021. Roger lived a life of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, was an EMT, and a Fire Fighter. He retired from the Department of Corrections. Roger was an outstanding craftsman and gardener, bringing things to life with skill and care. He was also a top-notch wood carver. He enjoyed walking 6-12 miles daily on the old train tracks near his home.
Roger is survived by his son, Tory (Stacey) Willard of Amboy, IL; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 niece.
Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judith Barnard; his parents; and one brother, Randell Barnard.
There will be a Graveside Service at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Palmyra Cemetery in Dixon.
Memorials may be directed to the Polo Area Senior Center, per Roger's wishes.
