It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Roger Neal Bertram, age 63 on March 1st, 2025 in Post Falls, Idaho.
Roger was born March 30th, 1961 in Winner, South Dakota to Allan & Neva Bertram. Roger attended school in Colome, South Dakota and went on to study Auto Mechanics at Mitchell Vo-Tech. He opened Alby’s Conoco in Colome and then moved on to work as a heavy equipment operator for various road construction companies most of his adult life until health issues forced him into “early” retirement in 2021. Roger then moved to Idaho in August of 2021 to be with his sister and her family where he lived up until his passing.
Roger was a proud uncle and grandfather. Roger played a huge role in many of his nieces and nephew’s childhoods and upbringings. He shared a special bond with several of them and enjoyed coaching many of them in various sports. Even up to the time of his death he loved watching his great nieces and nephews, coaching from the sidelines and always giving advice and tips on how to play each sport better. To say he was a great uncle and grandfather would be an understatement.
Roger loved playing games and was always ready to get a card game going if he could. He could talk about sports for hours and especially loved football and his Dallas Cowboys that he has cheered on since he was a child. He really enjoyed watching NFL games with Jeff so he could argue with him at various times throughout the week on different games, plays and players (notably Tom Brady & Josh Allen)
Roger will be greatly missed by his sister Rae Jean (Jeff) Frank, Brothers Ron (Kim) and Russ Bertram, Sister in Law Karen Bertram. His granddaughters Shayla, Teegan and Ava, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Neva, his brother Rich, sister Reva, brother-in-law Shorty, nephew Cooper & niece Charity.
The family is planning on hosting a memorial/celebration of life later this summer in his beloved hometown of Colome, South Dakota.
