I met Tom in college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. We were in some of the same education classes and both of us were working on our PhD's. We hit it off and ended up playing a lot of handball and racquetball. Tom actually taught me how to play handball and was the best teacher I could have had. He would beat me 21-0, 21-1, 21-2. He never let up or made it easy and, by doing that, he forced me to get better. Over time our matches became very competitive and very much fun. I started visiting Tom and Roxanne in Bayfield in 1973 and my children and I began spending part of our summers visiting them in Bayfield and staying at their A frame cabin in Bark Bay. My children have many very fond memories of their time with Tom and Roxanne. You are missed greatly and my children talk about you whenever they think of Bayfield. I am also very grateful my grandchildren were also able to meet you. Thanks, Tom for your years of friendship. With loving and fond memories, Ron Matthew
