Roger Lee Brandt gained his wings on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Boone Hospital Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 27, 1961 to the late Betty (Kemp) Brandt and the late Leonard Williams Jr., in Fulton, Mo.
He joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at a very young age. He became a Deacon on April 21, 1996 under the leadership of Reverend Maceo Piggee. Later becoming an active Deacon of New Richland Missionary Baptist Church of Fulton, Mo. He also was a part of Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church bible study. When it came to discussing the word, it sure brought him happiness. He never let anyone, or anything get in the way of spreading the word. He attended Fulton Public Schools and graduated in 1980. He was united in marriage on September 2, 1989 to Nancy (Payne) Brandt. He worked at Fulton State Hospital and retired in 2016 after 36 years of service. He owned and operated Brandt cleaning services for 15 years.
His greatest gift was becoming a father until he became a Papa. You could not tell him anything about his grandkids. Next to God, family was Roger's highest priority. Being the "King of the Grill" gave him the opportunity to teach the amateurs a thing or two about cooking, life, and faith. When it came to time for prayer, Roger knew there was some in the audience that may need some extra attention, so he took that time, albeit lengthy, to make sure the word reached everyone's ear and especially their hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, his children Jayla Brandt, Shakir Brandt, Stacey Mahaney, and Justin Mahaney. One Godson, Tyron Richmond and one Goddaughter Cherelle Smith (Marcus). Grandchildren, Karsten Davis, and Elaina Lee. God grandchildren, Bre'Awn Richmond, Ke'Marion Smith, Zyarie Smith, Milian Smith, Jae'lyn Peterson and Kamden Jackson. His siblings, Rita Clarke (Vernon), Linda Logan, Mary Jo Galbreath, Cecil Brandt, Brenda Chambers, Carolyn Gaines (Scott), Kendall Brandt, Gevona Clay, Gloria Hicks (Ed), Mike Wiliams (Kaye) and a host of nieces, nephews, and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, Leonard Williams Sr. and Spicy Brown, maternal grandparents, Theodore Kemp, and Elvira Wilson. Mother and father-in-law Kathryn and James Payne. Sister-in-law JoAnn Mahaney and two brothers-in-law James Payne and Gary Payne.
Funeral services will be held on at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Callaway Christian Church with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be held in Southside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to New Richland Missionary Baptist Church or Guiding Light Church (Community Repass Committee), c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
