Mr. Roger Gayhart Butterfield, age 67, of Robinson, Illinois, passed away on Monday October 6, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Robinson.
Born January 20th, 1958, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Roger was a hard working man, who enjoyed staying busy. With a kind heart he had the ability to turn strangers into neighbors and friends into family. He attended Granton High School, graduating in 1976, after graduation he spent time working on the family farm. Before moving to Robinson in
2003, for work at the Hershey Chocolate Factory, he spent 16 years working for Nelson Industries- Weather Shield.
Roger was a kind sweet man, eager to lend a hand or an ear to listen, always quick on advice to tell you right from wrong. His friendly "Hellos" and long "Mid-Western Good Byes" will be cherished in our hearts. He really should have been a weather man hough, he knew it all, the air flow from Canada to the Hurricanes in Florida. With a love for the outdoors most of his time was spent mowing the lawn, watching his plants grow, out in the woods, on the lake or just sitting on the porch with a hot coffee. Those were the moments he loved the most before the day was through.
Roger will leave behind a legacy of love and laughter with his children Jessica and Ian Hericks, Jonathan and Rachel Butterfield, Jennifer and Christopher Ashton. His grandchildren MaKendri, Scotlyn, Evianna, Tayzian Hericks, Allyson Butterfield and Araina Ashton, Sandy Cram (Sister), Micheal Keck (Sandy's Significant Other), Joe Butterfield (Nephew), Beau Butterfield (Great-Nephew). They will forever miss him and will always have an angel watching over them.
He was predeceased by his life partner Connie Marie Jewell, Robert and Richard Butterfield (Brothers), Harold George and Ella Marie (Matson) Butterfield (Parents) and his paternal and maternal grandparents, Caiden Ashton (Grandson).
With Rogers contagious laugh and great sense of humor he had the power to keep moving for the day. As he always said, "What don't get done today, will be there tomorrow". This is the way to remember Roger Gayhart Butterfield as those who knew him can all say he's up there now cracking a joke, gossiping, watching the Packer Game and having a cup of coffee.
Remember, Old Man we will always love you and keep you close to our hearts.
Roger will be cremated and laid to rest with his life partner, family will have a private graveside service.
