Thanks Mr. Cederlund. You were my science teacher at Hanscom Middle School from 1986-1988. The aviation scanner on your desk that you would listen to during lunch and that you encouraged me to buy when I began asking questions about it started my life-long hobby of amateur radio. After learning more about radio and upgrading and listening to a whole world of shortwave and local scanner signals, I went and earned my Federal Communications Commission Amateur Radio license, call sign AE7VA. I still own that aviation radio you encouraged me to get.

I was a former student of Mr. Cederlund in the early 90s. He had a good way of interacting with his students. It didn't matter if you were the best student or like me, average. He was a kind, excellent teacher and of course at that time I didn't know much of his background. He was an accomplished man that made a difference for many students.

I worked with Roger at the Hanscom Middle School between 1989 and the time that he retired. He was truly a dedicated professional who loved to talk about flying. Roger was always one of the first teachers to arrive at school each day. He will always be remembered fondly.

I worked with Roger for many years at Hanscom Middle School. He was a fine teacher and a good friend. My sympathies go out to his family.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Roger starting in 1984 at HMS. He was always willing to offer help and guidance and enjoyed chatting before and after school about our students and funny stories and incidents. I remember those years fondly. Roger will be in my thoughts and prayers.
