IN LOVING MEMORY
Roger Lee Christiansen
Oct 08 1942 - Nov 10 2025 Nov 10 2025
A Life of Faith, Devotion, and Service
Roger Lee Christiansen, 83, of Anna, Texas, a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of God in and through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, passed peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carole Ann Christiansen; his sons, Clarke Gardiner Christiansen (and wife Jennifer Lynn, née Hall) and Bradley Jay Christiansen (and wife Laurie Ann, née Clark); and his grandchildren, Jace Edward Christiansen and Taylor Nicole Christiansen.
A Journey of Education and Calling
Roger was born to Franklin Frederick Christiansen and Marietta Charlotte (née Rahm) Christiansen on October 8, 1942, in Joliet, Illinois, and grew up in Frankfort, Illinois.
He married the love of his life, Carole Ann Ropes, on June 19, 1965, just one week after graduating from Joliet Junior College with an Associate's Degree. The couple moved to Peoria, Illinois, where Roger earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology from Bradley University in 1968. He began his professional career shortly thereafter with Western Union in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Roger and Carole were blessed with the births of their two sons, Clarke and Brad, while living in Minnesota.
In 1975, the family moved to Jackson, Mississippi, as Roger pursued his lifelong calling to ministry. Balancing his responsibilities as a husband and father, he worked nights to provide for his family while attending Wesley Biblical Seminary, graduating in 1980 with a Master of Divinity degree. He then served as pastor of an Evangelical Church of North America congregation in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, for two years before returning to Illinois, where he continued to minister while resuming his professional work in technology.
The family later settled in Mokena, Illinois, where Roger became deeply involved at Faith Temple Church. He led Bible studies, preached when needed, and faithfully served with the Royal Rangers. When the church was temporarily without a pastor, Roger and fellow minister John Ber stepped in to shepherd the congregation until a new pastor was appointed.
Legacy of Ministry and Devotion in Texas
In January 1989, Roger's career in technology, including work with Davox Corporation, led the family to Plano, Texas. They became members of Collin Creek Community Church (CCCC) in 1993, where Roger quickly found ways to serve and share his deep faith.
In 1999, when CCCC opened DaySpring Assisted Living Center, Roger was invited to lead Sunday worship services for the residents. For the next 25 years, he faithfully ministered at DaySpring, preaching every Sunday and leading Bible study on Wednesday evenings. With Carole leading hymns and prayer, Roger delivered heartfelt messages that offered comfort, hope, and encouragement to the residents. His compassionate spirit, gentle humor, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who encountered him.
In recognition of their devoted quarter-century of ministry at DaySpring, Roger and Carole were honored with the Gary Lipmen Lifetime Achievement Award from Collin Creek Community Church in 2024.
Roger will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his deep love of family, and his zest for life. He found great joy in the outdoors-birdwatching, boating, camping, fishing, and hiking-and the freedom of the open road on his Harley Davidson. A true cat whisperer, his compassion extended to his beloved cats and neighborhood strays. His technical curiosity shone through his dedication as an amateur radio enthusiast and his hobby of flying remote control planes, balanced by leisurely hours playing video games and reading science fiction. Roger enriched the lives of all who knew him through laughter, lively discussions, and spirited debates. His lasting legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North,
