Roger Lynn Davis, 95, of Lauderhill, FL, formerly of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Cumming, GA, passed away at home on April 13, 2024.

Roger was born Jan. 21, 1929 to George and Gladys Davis of Ashtabula, Ohio. After serving as a parachutist in the U.S. Army, he married Nancy-Lee Sharpe in 1950 and they spent 72 loving years together raising two children and pursuing various interest, hobbies and traveling extensively during their retirement years. Nancy passed away in 2022.

Roger had a long career in sales for companies in northeast Ohio specializing in fabrication of plastic parts and components for electronics and other industrial purposes, including 39 years with Custom Materials Inc.

In 1992, the Davises moved to Cumming, Georgia, and Roger spent the final four years of his career as regional sales representative in the Southeast. Nancy accompanied him and was his navigator on sales trips that took them through several states and lasted for a week or two.

After Roger retired, the couple continued to travel for pleasure, often with his sister Kay and brother-in-law Bill Currie, including one trip to Wales where they visited the town that Roger's Davis ancestors emigrated from.

At home in Georgia, Roger and Nancy pursued various creative interests. Roger became proficient at wood working in a well-equipped shop in the family basement. He built finely crafted tables, bookshelves and other objects, including picture frames for Nancy’s needlepoint art. During one period he made doll beds and Nancy sewed the bedding; they sold them in consignment shops.

Roger had a lifelong passion for cars and in retirement finally got to drive his dream car, a bright red 1940 Ford coupe, thanks to the expertise of family friend Bob Peterson, who specializes in antique auto restoration and transformed the car into mint condition. Roger was never happier than at the wheel of “Little Red” as he and Nancy took long drives on the back roads of rural Georgia.

After their daughter Jill died at a young age, Roger and Nancy spent many years as foster parents, caring for a progression of infants prior to adoption.

In his final years, Roger celebrated holidays and birthdays with four generations of his family in South Florida. His 95th birthday dinner celebration in January 2024 was highlighted by playing video games with his great-grandsons.

Roger is survived by son Craig and his wife Fran of Plantation, FL; granddaughter Allison Posada, her husband Chris and their fraternal-twin sons Dante and Owen, of Pembroke Pines, FL; grandson Glenn Davis and his wife Lara, of Orlando, FL.
