Roger Fred Edmonds, 84 of New Haven, IL passed away quietly at home Thursday, August 15, 2024. Roger was born October 25, 1939, in Mattoon, IL to the late George Fred & Marie Edmonds. Roger married Patricia (Jones) Edmonds on July 16, 1966. He served in the Navy from 1959-1963 and served on the USS Tusk Submarine. Roger was a lifelong member of the American Legion and the NRA. Roger dedicated over 30 years working for Xerox Corporation.

Roger served as mayor of New Haven, was a precinct committeeman, a member of the NHFD as well as a Shriner, York Rite, and a Master Mason of the Ridgway Masonic Lodge. Also served as a church elder for the New Haven Presbyterian Church.

 Roger is survived by his wife Patricia (Pat) Edmonds, sons Kevin (Dawana) Edmonds of New Haven, IL Brian (Cathy) Edmonds of Eldorado, IL, and daughter Jessica Baggett (Jeff Brady) of Boonville, IN, and a sister Myra (Ron) Jefferies of Tulsa, OK. Roger also known as “Poppy” had 5 grandchildren, Matthew Edmonds, Brittany Edmonds, Katlyn Hatton-Edmonds, Stephanie (Dustin) Dromgoole & Andrea Baggett. Poppy had 7 great-grandchildren, Aiden Edmonds, Rhian Warren, Jada Hatton, Kash Edmonds, Luke Edmonds, KeAndre & Kylan Bajzath, and 1 great-great grandson Parker Edmonds.
Visitation for Roger will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven, IL from 4:00- 7:00 PM, with Masonic rights at 7 PM.  The Funeral Service for Roger will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven, IL at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mike Buckman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven, IL
