Roger Douglas Elowsky

Roger Douglas Elowsky, 80, from Hillman, MI, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Alpena Hospital. Roger's family and friends will gather from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., on November 11, 2024, at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Chuck McNeil will officiate.
He was born on August 6, 1944, in Alpena, Michigan, to Emil and Marie (Brandt) Elowsky. Roger graduated from Hillman High School in 1965. Afterwards, he joined the U.S. Army, where he proudly served until 1972. Roger started at Ford Motors, where he worked as an assembly line worker, until his retirement. He moved back to his hometown of Hillman, MI, after retirement. Roger resided at the family home and helped care for the property until his passing. He loved spending his days there, where he would often sit outside enjoying the peace and beauty nature provides. Roger enjoyed deer hunting, riding on his ATV through the trails and watching wildlife. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends at Lake Avalon, where he spent many summer days with his children and grandchildren. Roger enjoyed watching sports, especially the ones his grandchildren played in. He would often travel downstate to attend games and he would plan these visits around the sports he could watch. Roger enjoyed playing Euchre and other various board games. He had a competitive, but fun side about him. Roger loved having company over to sit down to have a great conversation. He would often invite his friends over to enjoy a cup of coffee or an occasional dinner. Roger's heart was full of kindness and was generous to his family and friends.
Roger will be missed by his children, Bettina (Jeff) Taylor, Renee Griffin-Taylor, and Danielle (Kevin) Pequet; siblings, Marina Losinski, Ronnie Elowsky and Larry Elowsky; grandchildren, Joshua Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Emily (Zach) Wagg, Rachel Griffin, Hillary Griffin, Kaitlyn Pequet and Kyler Pequet. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dale Elowski and Paul Elowsky; and grandchild, Noah Taylor.
