Roger Gaskill Obituary

Roger Warren Gaskill, age 97, of Nashua, New Hampshire, died on May 26, 2022 in Nashua, NH. Roger was born on September 10, 1924 in Nashua, New Hampshire. He was the son of Ralph and Rowena Gaskill of Nashua, New Hampshire.

Roger was a lifelong resident of Crown Hill. Graduate of Nashua High School 1942 and Nashua Business College, 1944, of which he was the President of his class. Roger worked for the Masonic fraternity since 1951. He was the secretary emeritus of New Hampshire Consistory and other Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Nashua, Past Master and past Secretary of Rising Sun Lodge #39, F&AM and historian of the Lodge, past Secretary of Meridian Sun Royal Arch Chapter, and past Recorder of St. George Commandery, K.T., a past Chaplain of the Grand Lodge and Secretary Emeritus of New

Hampshire Council of Deliberation. He served as a Director, Secretary/Treasurer of the

Masonic Building Association, and Secretary and President of the Masonic Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Swords of Bunker Hill, the William Pitt Tavern and an honorary member of the Supreme Council, 33 degree.

Active in church affairs, he served on many committees of the Arlington Street United Methodist Church and was Chairperson of the Church Council for 25 years. The church was organized in his great grandfather's store on the corner of Arlington and Gillis Streets as the Crown Hill Chapel. He also served as church historian. Roger was a member of the Nashua Area Interfaith Council for numerous years.

An accomplished musician, he played trumpet in many of the local bands, Nashua High

School Band, the Veterans/American Legion Band since 1946, the Ayer and Townsend

Bands in Massachusetts, the Nashua Symphony Orchestra, The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cavaliers Dance Orchestra. He was bugler for Hudson Post, No. 48 American Legion Firing Squad and played taps for many veteran burials.

His wife, Grace Sylvia Humphrey Gaskill, predeceased him in 2004, after being married for 45 years. Roger's survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Samantha and Michael Jean of Nashua, Nancy and George Monahan III of Stratham, and Brenda and

Jere Vincent of Durham; three granddaughters, Hannah and Lauren Vincent, and Marisa

Monahan; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Chester and Margaret Humphrey; a niece, Kimberly Humphrey; a nephew, Wayne Humphrey; his Masonic family; his church family and many friends.

SERVICES: A Masonic Service will be held at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday, June 1st at 4:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Arlington Street United Methodist Church, 63 Arlington Street, Nashua on Thurssday, June 2nd at 10:00 am with a burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua. Friends and family are invited to attend. Everyone in attendance will be required to wear masks per family request. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial donation for the Arlington Street United Methodist Church, 63 Arlington Street, Nashua, NH 03060. Roger was the "go to person" in NH for our Masonic Fraternity. He was a very special person who always had an attentive ear and a solution to your problem. God bless his soul from a greatfull brother.

Roger was an inspiration for so many; as a member of the American Legion Band, I so enjoyed Roger's playing, his friendship, and his bright outlook on life. Rest in peace, Roger.
