Roger Hurley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Millennium Cremation Service - Port St. Lucie on Dec. 30, 2025.
Gordon Hurley was born in 1931 in the beautiful town of Manchester, Vermont, where five generations of his family had lived. From a young age, Gordon showed a love for music and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. He sang in the church choir and served faithfully as an altar boy. During his high school years, he also played football, developing the strong work ethic and dedication that would guide him throughout his life.

After graduating from high school, Gordon joined the United States Air Force and proudly served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan for two and a half years with the Far Eastern Command. While home in Manchester, Vermont, he met Joyce Layton, and they were married later that year, beginning a loving partnership that would last a lifetime.

Together, Gordon and Joyce raised four children: Kim, Jeff, Melissa, and Adam. Gordon worked as a contractor, building many homes and commercial buildings in both Vermont and California. In 1981, the family relocated to California, where he continued his successful career in construction.

While serving in the Air Force, Gordon gave his life to the Lord, beginning a lifelong walk of faith. His relationship with God remained central to his life, guiding him in his work, his family, and his character. Gordon walked faithfully with the Lord until the day he went home to be with Him.

A Celebration of His Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2pm at the Sunlight Community Church, 477 SW Cashmere Boulevard, Port Saint Lucie, Florida 3486, where also Military Honors and Presentation of the Flag will be rendered by the United States Air Force Military Honor Guard.
