Roger Jaeger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooney Funeral Home - Park Ridge on Dec. 11, 2025.
Roger Allen Jaeger

1948-2025

Roger met the love of his life, Johanna nee: Brennan in 1968, they married shortly thereafter in 1970, this past June they celebrated 55 years of marriage. Their love was traditional in every sense. When Roger was working, many times at the end of the week he would pick up a bouquet of flowers for his bride to start off the weekend. Over the years Roger would see his family grow, he was a proud father of three daughters, Colleen Jaeger, April (Paul) Rudnicki and Elizabeth (Jeff) Dore. Along with Johanna, he raised his girls with integrity and instilled good values, a strong work ethic and kindness in their everyday lives. Roger loved his daughters and welcomed their husbands into the family with open arms.

One of Roger's greatest joys was that of being grandpa to his grandchildren, The late Cara Reidy, Jack Rice, Charley, Molly, Chloe and Rory Dore and his four-legged granddaughter Heidi. Grandpa loved spending time with them, making beautiful memories at his home in Upper Michigan, cheering them on from the bleachers at their sporting events, milestone celebrations and numerous activities, especially when a concession stand was involved and sharing his love of good chocolates with them. These moments brought tremendous joy to him and them, they loved their grandpa fiercely and he knew it.

Among many things, Roger was known for his honesty, loyalty to his friends and family and incredible work ethic and a servant's heart. He was a man who did not mince his words, you always knew where you stood with him. He was very clear about his opinion and views on life's many issues. Roger worked for IDOT for most of his adult life, he retired in 2002 after many years of service. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 700 and a very patriotic man who deeply loved his country.

Friends were a big part of Roger's life, and the cast of characters was many and endless, there was never a short supply of company at our house, a house whose doors were open to all. Roger was an incredible fisherman, fishing many of the local lakes, he shared his love of the outdoors with his friends and family. His grandchildren enjoyed their time on the lake with him and hearing the stories of the locals as they circled the lake for all the "hot spots" as Roger knew all of them. Many weekends were spent hunting, skeet shooting, perfecting his marksman skills, spending time in Michigan working on the property and then eventually enjoying the fruits of their labor. His quick wit, love of a good meal followed by a great cigar and a deep love for his bride, his family and the many furry companions he had throughout his life meant everything to him.

As we remember "Pa", we also want to thank our mom Johanna for leading by example, her love of dad was apparent with everything she did, she cared for him through his sickness with kindness and provided him with a level of dignity like no other, her unwavering love and grace was a true testament of their love for each other. Her dedication and care were commendable.

Friends and family will gather on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until time of Chapel Service 4pm at Cooney Funeral Home. 625 Busse Highway in Park Ridge, IL
