Roger Allen Jensen, 84, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the funeral home and for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Lakewood cemetery immediately following the service. Reverend Don Rose will be officiating.
Roger was born on August 7, 1940, in Blooming Prairie, MN to Irving and Ella (Aikens) Jensen. He grew up alongside his sister Mavis and brothers Jim, Dick, and Gary on the family farm. He attended and graduated from Dodge Center High School and began working at Ventura Foods where he would eventually become a Production Supervisor until he retired. On August 18, 1962, he was married to Lois Marcks, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bixby, MN. They enjoyed 52 years together. After moving to Albert Lea, Roger became a member of First Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Eagles, doing volunteer work and helping out whenever and wherever he could.
Roger cherished his years as a winter texan, where he spent his days golfing, playing cards with friends, and taking trips to Mexico. He was an avid fan of the Twins and the Vikings, but above all, Roger's greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and spending time up north sharing fishing stories.
He is survived by his daughter Joni (Scott) Wichmann and Kris Jensen; grandchildren Ryan Sneath, (Abby Friell) Tyler Wichmann, Tia Sneath (Jackson Wieland), and Tanner Wichmann; brother Gary Jensen; in laws Phyllis and Lynn Seyffer, and Al Henke; special friend Donna Henrikson and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lois Jensen; parents Irving and Ella Jensen; and his brothers James and Richard Jensen, his sister Mavis Henke. Roger’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
