In Loving Memory of Roger M. Maceroni
April 11, 1962 – October 31, 2025
Roger M. Maceroni, beloved father, son, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 11, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, Roger was the cherished son of Roger D. and Josephine (née Bellia) Maceroni.
Roger's life was defined by his deep faith, devotion to family, and unwavering enthusiasm for life. He attended St. Anne Catholic School for his early education, followed by De La Salle Collegiate High School. His passion for learning and sports led him to Adrian College, where he played football and earned his bachelor's degree. After graduating from Adrian, Roger attended Wayne State University to pursue a master's degree in industrial relations. Roger then continued his academic journey at Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University College of Law), where he earned his Juris Doctorate in General Law. In 1991, he proudly passed the Michigan Bar Exam and went on to practice as an attorney at law-a career he dedicated himself to for more than three decades.
A true sports enthusiast, Roger found joy in every game and every season, no matter the sport. While he cheered for all teams, his heart belonged to the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. When not watching a game, Roger loved settling in for a good movie or TV show, and romantic comedies were his guilty pleasure. His appreciation for film and television was matched only by his love of music. His all-time favorite band was Chicago, whose songs brought him endless joy.
Roger also loved to travel and especially cherished family vacations to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Hilton Head was his favorite destination and a place that held countless memories.
At home, he found comfort and fun in baking, particularly anything made with chocolate. A self-proclaimed chocoholic, he was known to whip up sweet treats that delighted family and friends alike.
Faith was an enduring foundation in Roger's life. A lifelong member of St. Anne Catholic Church, he found great meaning in his parish community. Roger eagerly looked forward to St. Anne's beloved Sausage Fest every year-an event he never missed and always enjoyed.
Above all, Roger's greatest pride and joy were his children, Jillian and Joel. Being their father was his most cherished role, and he embraced it wholeheartedly. He was an active, supportive, and loving parent. He attended every game, event, and extracurricular activity with enthusiasm and pride. Since he was such an avid sports enthusiast, he relished both Jillian and Joel's participation in sports, whether it was basketball, baseball, volleyball, or bowling. He loved carrying on family traditions and creating new ones with his children, ensuring that every year was filled with shared laughter, warmth, and love.
Roger had a special bond with his parents. His father, Roger D., was his very best friend until his passing in 2015. He continued to share a close, loving relationship with his mother, Josephine, throughout his life.
Those who knew Roger will remember him for his kind heart, good humor, and easygoing nature. He had a gift for making the best of every situation, always lighthearted and positive. Fun, loving, loyal, and deeply respectful, Roger touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his love, laughter, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
