Roger Robert Messier

Roger Robert "Bob" Messier, 85, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 20, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Sandra A, (Bellefleur) Messier. Roger was born on August 28, 1940 in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Roger J. and Rita (Reedy) Messier. He moved to Enfield in 1966 where he resided for 59 years. Bob served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962. Prior to retiring in February 2003 Roger was employed with Eastern Plastics for 15 years. He was involved in town sports. Bob played for Kelly Trailer for many years, he also coached CYO Basketball, Enfield Boys Rec. Basketball and Enfield Girls Travel Basketball. After retiring in 2003 he joined the Senior Olympic Basketball Team winning gold medals. In the early 1990's with the help of family and friends he built a cottage in upstate New York, where he enjoyed some of his happiest times fishing, swimming, and building bonfires with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, cutting wood, and getting coffee with the guys at Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and UCONN women's basketball and often could be heard yelling at the TV from his favorite chair.

In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his four children: Robin Kraucunas (Jim) of Enfield, Jay Messier of Plainville, Scott Messier (Joann) of Enfield, and Robert Messier of Enfield, his nine beloved grandchildren; Jeffrey, Stacey, Gregory, Thomas, Mary, Gavin, Nathaniel, Declan and Ethan, and four cherished great grandchildren; Kayden, Carson, Levi and Maverick. He is also survived by a sister, Janet Belanger of Fall River, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may join his family during calling hours on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
