Roger Leland Meyer, 86 years old of rural Houston, MN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 29, 2025, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, MN, after battling Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.

Roger grew up in Minneapolis and started using a hammer as a toddler when his parents gave him a set of plastic tools for Christmas. He graduated from Southwest Minneapolis high school in 1956, then received a 2-year degree in drafting and design from the Dunwoody Institute of Design and Technology. Roger served 4 years in the Air National Guard based out of Minneapolis and was deployed to Germany in 1961 during the latter part of the Berlin Crisis.

Upon discharge from the Air Force, Roger and his father formed the Henry Meyer and Son contracting business. Roger used his creative skills to design impressive homes which they built in the Twin Cities. In the 1970’s, Roger and his father purchased a parcel of land in Edina on which they built several spec homes in an affluent area now called Braemer Hills. After his father passed away, Roger continued on in his new business, All Season Craftsmen, which specialized in residential building and remodeling until his retirement in 1995.

Roger married the love of his life, Lynn Meyer, (Lemke) on October 22, 1983. They enjoyed their 41 years together doing many things they both enjoyed, like camping in the northern MN boundary waters area, fishing, traveling, volunteering, gardening, classical music concerts, picking wild berries and so much more. Roger also enjoyed many years of hunting wild game with his father, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; sons Lee and Rob; brothers-in-law Reuben (Rita Lemke and Aron (Vicki) Lemke plus more than 40 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy (Thompson) Meyer; sister, Diane Skiver; sister-in-law, Joyce Lemke; brother-in-law, Dennis Lemke; and sister-in-law, Karen Lemke-Nord.

Roger’s wife Lynn would like to extend her sincere thanks to the staffs of Callista Court Memory Care in Winona, The Medical Specialty Unit at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse, the Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester and St. Croix Hospice of Rochester for their loving care during Roger’s last few months of life here on earth.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Roger at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at church.
