Roger Alvin Motter

Roger Alvin Motter, 87, of Marietta Georgia, passed away on 22 October, 2017. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at St. Catherine's Episcopal Church, 571 Holt Road, at 10:00 a.m., the Rev. Sarah Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 5:00-8:00, at Southern Cremations & Funerals, 1861 Dallas Highway. Burial will follow the funeral at Cheatham Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Southern Cremations & Funerals. Roger was born in Cleveland, Ohio on 10 November, 1929. He graduated from West Technical High School and worked for the Yoder Company in Cleveland for many years, before moving to Marietta to help start Southern Coil Coatings Corporation as plant manager. He then went on to help start Mastercraft Custom Systems Inc., as the principal designer. Roger was married to Eileen Mortimer on 11 August, 1951; they were married 59 years and had four sons, Dean, Garry, Ronald, and Todd. Roger was a Scoutmaster for several Boy Scout troops in Ohio, Ontario and Cobb County. He was also very active in Habitat for Humanity and as a vestryman at St. Catherine's church. He was an avid woodworker and master craftsman. Roger is preceded in death by Eileen, who passed away in 2010, and his sisters Jean Walker and Norma Litrico. He is survived by his four sons and their spouses; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Justin, Stephen, Michael, Daniel, Michelle, and Dalton; and five great-grandchildren, Bahnam, Damien, Leia, Kalina, and Henry. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Catherine's Episcopal Church with "Habitat Projects" designated in the memo line.
