Roger Eugene Norris, 80, of Nemo, Texas, passed away quietly in his sleep in Brookings, OR, on August 3, 2023. He was born on December 3, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in nearby Beavercreek. He attended Ohio State, was a life long fan, and worked for General Motors. He enlisted in the Air Force, served, spent 14 months in Vietnam, and was discharged honorably in the mid 60's. He lived in Texas, Arizona, and California. Roger retired from Advanced Electropolish (formerly NTA Industries) where he spearheaded the Electropolish division. Roger loved to travel whether it be for work or pleasure. He and his wife Jeri traveled for years back and forth across the U.S. after retirement. Roger and Jeri have called Nemo, Texas home since 2017. He was active in the Somervell County Democratic Party, The Prairie Rose Chapter of the Native land Society of Texas, the Progressive Democratic Party and any group that needed his help.
Roger was a good and kind man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was fiercely passionate about his family and friends. Everyone he met became a friend and by extension family. He "Loved and adopted" anyone his children called friend.
He was always available to take on projects and lend a hand wherever needed. He was a strong advocate for those who were not able to help themselves.
Roger is survived by his loving spouse, Jeri Norris, and her children, his stepson Timothy James Kennedy of Brookings, OR, Daughter in Law TeAnna Kennedy, and granddaughters Lola Malus Kennedy and Meryn Ellerbe Kennedy, and his stepdaughter Carol Kennedy Holder, San Anselmo, CA, Son in Law' Jeff Holder, and granddaughters Chloe Mer Holder and Sydney Anne Holder.
Roger "the best dad", is survived by his birth daughters. Younger daughter Mandy Norris of Denver, CO. and older daughter Shannon Norris Turley of Longmont, CO, Son in Law Craig Turley, granddaughter Autumn Nicole Turley, grandson Austin Norris Turley, granddaughter Lauren Turley Rinaudo of Marshall, TX, her husband Stephen Rinaudo, great-grandson Levi, and great-granddaughter Lennon, and granddaughter Rebekah Turley Kellogg of Louisiana, her husband Justin Kellogg, great granddaughter Emmy Louise and great grandson Miles.
Roger's sole surviving sibling is brother "Bud" Charles A. Norris II of Dayton, OH, and his spouse Anna Norris, their children, Chuck Norris, Tonja Norris Burns, Mary Ann Norris, their spouses, grand children, and great grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his father Charles A. Norris and mother Irene May Norris nee' Doughman as well as sister Carol Norris Smith and her daughter DeAnn Smith, brother Norman A. Norris and his son Aaron, and brother Thomas Norris, as well as, the son of brother Bud, Chris Norris. Roger's beloved family also includes the surviving spouses, children, grand children, and great grandchildren, which include the following surviving nieces and nephews: Debbie McIntire, Denise Pratt, Jill Norris Freitas, Holly (Norris) Bolejack, Thomas Norris Jr, and Marie Norris Wassom.
A family mass was held soon after his passing in August at St Timothy's Episcopal Church in Brookings, Oregon to honor Roger's life. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will took place on January 20, 2024, in Glen Rose, TX.
