Roger Riddell

May 26, 1939 - April 23, 2024

Georgetown, Kentucky - Roger Dale Riddell, 84, widower of Lois Riddell, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was born in Sherman, Kentucky, to the late Roger C. and Rachel Tungate Riddell. He spent most of his life in Georgetown, Kentucky before moving to Lexington for a career in real estate. Roger was a successful Realtor and was the owner and broker of Roger Riddell Real Estate. The Lexington Board of Realtors recognized his achievement of attaining fifty plus years of membership and his contributions to the industry. Roger utilized his real estate expertise in the acquisition of property to construct Southern Acres Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. His service in the community included membership in the Robert M. Sirkle Lodge 954 where he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a sergeant in the United States Army Reserve. Later in life, he drove a bus for Bluegrass Tours, his passengers included the Kentucky Wildcats. Other employers include the University of Kentucky, Keeneland, and Overnite Transportation from which he retired. After retiring, he moved back to Georgetown, the city of his youth. In his later years, he moved to Ashton Grove Assisted Living where he was loved by many and well taken care of by the staff. Great-granddaughters Palmer and Campbell were a great light in his life, he beamed when they were around. Roger was loved by many who will miss his stories, jokes and infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed.

Roger is survived by his son, Tim (Judy) Riddell; daughters, Kimberly Riddell and Vicki (Mark) Dunaway; grandchildren, Zachary (Madison) Young and Tyler (Kristen) Young; great grandchildren, Palmer Young and Campbell Young; brother, Larry (Marilyn) Riddell; sister, Donna (Mike) Lee and a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Weldon Riddell and his sister Patsy Warren.

Private graveside services were held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana, Kentucky. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for friends and family.
