With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roger “Roach” Rinehart, a loving devoted husband, father and cherished friend, who passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025 at the age of 75. Born in Montgomery County Maryland, Roger was known for his magnetic personality that drew people to him. Roger lived his life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved dogs.
Roger always admired the heroism of firefighters, and therefore was proud to join Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department Station 9 on September 3, 1967. He spent 58 years serving the Town of Bladensburg often putting his life in danger for others alongside his fellow firefighters.
Survived by his beloved wife Katherine Rinehart of 51 years and his children Kelly Flanagan (Kenneth), Shaun Rinehart (Poochie) and grandchildren James Weese, Jarratt Weese (Faith) and Patric Flanagan. Great grandchildren Luna Weese and soon to be Jaxon Weese. He will be deeply missed for his unwavering support and infectious laughter.
Viewings will be held on Monday January 27, 2025 at Gasch’s Funeral Home in Hyattsville MD located at 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville MD 20781. Family, friends and neighbors may drop in to pay respects between 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Services will be held on Tuesday January 28, 2025 at 9:00 am at Gasch’s Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 11:00am at Fort Lincoln cemetery located at 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.
Family and friends are invited to join us to celebrate the life of Roger Rinehart immediately following the burial at the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department located at 4901 Edmonston Road, Bladensburg MD 20710.
