Roger Rostvet
November 25, 1952 - October 23, 2025
BISMARCK - Roger Rostvet, 72, Bismarck, N.D., passed away October 23, 2025.
No services will be held at this time.
Roger was born on November 25, 1952 to Olaus and Minnie (Axvig) Rostvet in Park River, N.D. He was raised and educated in Adams, N.D. with his eight siblings. Roger graduated from Adams High School with the Class of 1970. He attended NDSU – Bottineau and received his Associates in Wildlife Management. In 1975, he graduated from the University of Montana with his Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology. Following graduation, he was employed with Federal Electric Corporation.
In 1977, Roger began his lifelong career with North Dakota Game and Fish, initially as a Game Warden. He was appointed to be the Assistant Chief of the Wildlife Division. In 1998, he became the Deputy Director until his retirement in 2012.
What started as a hobby became a business adventure when he began Prairies Diversified in 1998. Together with his wife, Dawn, Roger would grow, harvest, and sell the seeds from wildflowers. Their backyard was filled with fields of wildflowers of all variations.
1993 became a good year for Roger when he met his future wife, Dawn. The two eventually married in 2005. Together, the two of them enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to their wildflowers, and of course, spending time at the casino winning it big (or at least hoping to).
In his spare time, he enjoyed the North Dakota prairie, often hunting and fishing. He spent a lot of time tinkering on the tractors and equipment he had. Roger was a kind man and made numerous friends over the years. He was always willing to lend a hand to his family and friends when needed.
Roger is survived by his wife, Dawn; children, Kelsie (Troy) Lawrence and Derek; stepchildren, Mitchell Ohlhauser and Carmen (Nic) Maier; grandchildren, Emily, Everleigh and Isaiah; siblings, Burt (Jackie), Jim (Arty), Shirley and Conrad; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Marilyn, Amy, Orlin and Marvin.
