Roger Strobridge Obituary

Strobridge, Roger
Roger John "Jack" Strobridge was a beloved father, husband, friend, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away comfortably in his summer home on Fife Lake on August 20, 2023 with family members around him in his last hours. He was known as "Jack" or Roger to his family, many friends and relatives and lived a long and happy life spending much time with his younger family on Lake Michigan at either his folks cottage, camping at Grand Haven or on his beloved "Stroboat" salmon fishing. Later he traveled in his motor home with the Holiday Ramblers club and wintered in Bradenton, Florida. Eventuality Jack and Mary bought a cottage on Fife Lake to spend more time with family and friends there. Jack loved deer hunting with family and friends in the Woodville Michigan area for over 50+ seasons. He was dedicated to to his family providing a comfortable life, guidance and a strong work ethic to his three sons John, Dan and Jim. Jack was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan but moved around the state during the depression spending some formative years in Kalamazoo and Flint before graduating from Union High School back in Grand Rapids in 1946. Jack served in the Navel Reserve before marrying Mary Elizabeth Hood in 1949. Jack and Mary were members of St. Paul's Methodist Church and brought their three sons up there as well. Jack bought their first house in Wyoming, Michigan in 1951 and put a major three story addition on that home by himself in 1959 while working full time and raising three boys. That house was still his primary residence until his passing. Jack had many jobs while growing up but following graduation he started an apprenticeship and eventually became an accomplished Tool and Die Maker. He worked at many well known tool shops around Grand Rapids before accepting a Tool Engineer position at Light Metals Corporation, later becoming a partner in Robb Tool and Die. Ultimately, Jack started his own business, Action Die and Tool, which he operated for many years. Upon his retirement in 1995 he sold that business which still exists today under that name. Jack is survived by his three sons John (LeeAnn), Dan (Lorraine), and Jim (Julie), grandchildren, Beth, Lindsay, Peter, Brian, Michael, Kelsey, great grandchildren, Mark, Lauren, Ben, Bentley, and Aisley. Jack will be sorely missed but his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of the lives he touched. A celebration of life will be held at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 933 Tremont Blvd N.W., Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 2-5pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
