Roger Bays Taylor, 85, of Berlin, MD passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Wesley Chapel, FL. Roger was born on February 11, 1941, in Coeburn, VA to William Ernest Taylor and Nellie Elizabeth (Meade) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his sisters, Sharon Church and Shirley Whitman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gail (Leeper) Taylor; his children Lori Caldwell (husband Mike), Steven Taylor (wife Suzy), and Michael Taylor (wife Sabine); 5 cherished grandsons; Cameron, Blake (wife Alex), Mitchell, Colby (wife Barclay), and Garrett, and 4 great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Taylor (wife Gloria) and his sister, June Smith (husband Wayne). Roger grew up in Berlin and spent his early childhood playing in the woods and on Ayres Creek with his cousins. Later, Roger enjoyed hunting and surf fishing, his most cherished being a hunting trip out west with family. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked in the family construction business, TaCo Builders which constructed many buildings in Ocean City. Roger also earned his real estate license, working for Bud Church Realty in Ocean City for many years. Roger and Gail enjoyed many hobbies together. Roger earned his private pilot’s license and flew the family on many fun adventures. They enjoyed Trap Shooting and Roger was the past president of the Synepuxent Rod and Gun Club. They were avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle riders and enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their RV. They especially enjoyed touring the Western US and Roger loved all things Western and Cowboys. Ultimately, they became snowbirds, spending their winters in Wesley Chapel, FL, where they made many close friends and were embraced by the community.
Roger most loved spending time with family and friends. Always the gentleman, Roger was welcoming and a friend to all. He will be remembered for his ready smile, quick laugh, and constant jokes and tricks. A private ceremony will be held in Berlin, MD at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Roger's memory to The Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
