Roger Wheeler Obituary
December 29, 1950 - February 10, 2026
Jamestown - Roger Wheeler, 75, of Jamestown, California, passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2026. He was born in Los Angeles, California on December 29, 1950.
During his high school years in Coos Bay, Oregon, he obtained a private pilot's certificate with a commercial and instrument rating. He went on to add a flight instructor rating, as well. His love of flying continued his entire life.
Roger answered the call to Christian ministry at the age of 20 and devoted his life to serving God and loving people well. Over the years, he faithfully served in a variety of pastoral roles, including music pastor, youth pastor, associate pastor, and senior pastor in Texas and California. In February 1988, he became senior pastor of Santa Maria Foursquare Church, where he served the Santa Maria Valley community until his retirement in November 2014.
Roger's heart was always for people-to help them know Jesus and experience the grace of God in everyday life.
Outside of ministry, Roger enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with those he loved most. Above all, he cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man whose faith shaped every season of his life.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Wheeler; his mother, Leona Wheeler; and his sister, Sharon Key.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Wheeler; his sister, Joyce Buchanan (husband Barry) of Dallas, Texas, BIL, Dale Morgan (wife Cathy) of Amarillo, Texas, BIL, Timothy Key of Houston, Texas, SIL, Rebecca Blair (husband Eddie) of Pampa, Texas; his sons Jonathan Wheeler (wife Gabrielle) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, David Wheeler (wife Denise) of Sonora, California, Daniel Wheeler of Santa Maria, California; and his daughter Kimberly Dominguez (husband Gabriel) of Jamestown, California. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply grateful for the many prayers, messages, and expressions of love they have received, and will hold a private gathering at a later date.

We loved pastor Rodger very much such an amazing man of God and family member, he will be missed but we know he's with our Lord and that fills our hearts because we know who his love was besides his loving wife Janet Wheeler this man of God was a great example of a Man of God and Father and husband and grandfather and friend and I know he's got much treasure's that's been waiting for him in heaven RIP Rodger we Love u

Roger, Janet and the entire family has always held a special place in our hearts. By my involvement in children´s ministry under the leadership of his mom Lee I began to understand Gods call on my life for ministry. Pastor Roger entrusted me to lead the children´s ministry after his mom retired and I continued to serve in full time children´s ministries until retirement more than 25 years later. I honor them for the way they loved and served the Lord and my family. I´m so thankful we will all spend eternity together.

Whether on the ground or in the air, at home or church, un public or private, Roger Wheeler was a man on a mission. His love for the Lord and for people was so evident, and it was a blessing to know him. It didn´t matter where I ran into him - even crashing the Wheeler place on Christmas Day! - or what the circumstances were, he just loved to love people, and his servant´s heart was second to none.
Many prayers to Janet, the kids, and the entire extended Wheeler family... well done on running the race faithfully and honorably, Pastor!

I had the privilege of being a neighboring pastor and I so enjoyed my times of fellowship meetings, meals, seminars and wonderful converstion and prayers together with Pastor Roger. I've been a pastor for 53 years years and he was one of the best that I ever met. I loved him and look forward to seeing him in heaven. I am praying for his.dear wife and his wonderful family. Pastor Roger has made a departure but don't forget he's already arrived on the other side and the joys of heaven.
