Roger Dale Williams

Roger Dale Williams, Sr., age 78, of Shelbyville, TN, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, November 28, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 15, 1947, in Murfreesboro, TN, Roger was the son of the late James Marvin and Ola Lorene Cook Williams. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mitzi Dale Williams; grandson, Daxton Tyler Williams; sister, Janice Faye Yeargan; and brothers, James Marvin Williams and David Maron Williams.
Affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Popa Rat," Roger was an entrepreneur at heart. Over the years, he owned and operated several Shelbyville businesses, including Hillcrest Market, William's Game Sales, Economy Liquors, and Parkway Café. Beyond his work, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Roger found joy in antique collecting, dirt and asphalt racing, watching NASCAR, caring for his property, tinkering in his shop, and spirited conversations about politics. He lived his life with energy, curiosity, and devotion, and his Pentecostal faith was an important part of who he was.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Paralee Sons Williams of Shelbyville; daughters Christy (Dawayne) Boyce and Penny (Robert) West; sons, Bo (Karen) Williams and Josh (Tracy) Williams, all of Shelbyville; grandchildren "JJ" (Cassie), Ty, Kelli Anne (Jonathan), Kelsie (Corey), Tommy Lee, Robbie (Julie), Zack (Shaina), Dillon (Jacie), Carrie Beth (Brandon), Casey (Bill), Catie (Taylor), and Ben (Ali); along with 25 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Renee Goodwin of Smyrna, and many nieces and nephews.
Roger's life was marked by hard work, faith, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the memories cherished by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2025, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Adams and Keith Warren officiating.
Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, prior to services, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
