Roland D Ellis jr born on June 19th 1955 passed away july 13th at 1:16 pm after a long hard fought battle of cancer for nearly 5 years Roland also known to everyone as "Byrd" because of his athletic skills & growing up his favorite basketball player was Larry Bird, Roland was survived by his wife Maureen & their 3 kids Lindsay, Jacob & Destiny he also had a son Juston & step son Deryck & was survived by numerous grand children Isabella , Dexter, killian, Zion , Zanova & Jaelynn Rolands also survived by his brothers & sister Duane , Dana , Cathy , Guybert, Randy & Steven & Billiejean he is deceased by his mother Mary & his father Roland and his 2 sisters Catherine and Linda Roland was a funny , smart , outgoing afraid of nothing man who would give the shirt off his back for anyone and was loved by everyone who's met him and was around him Byrd liked going on walks cooking on the grill scratching off his scratch offs , watching sports like the Rangers, Knicks , Yankees, & the giants but he loved all sports & would channel surf but heloved to talk sports & to tell you about the weather or crack jokes on anyone & about anyone & he would be there laughing at his own jokes hours later with tears coming down his face Roland was a hardworking man who worked at Bates Troy for 40+ years and would still come home clean the house and dishes and do the laundry on top of waking to the store and grilling out all in one day we will never forget you Byrd man,

A funeral service will be held at E H Parsons Funeral Home Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00 am. Friends may come to call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
