Roland Escue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford-A Crim Funeral Home on May 16, 2025.
A memorial graveside service for Mr. Roland Warren Escue will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Rusk County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dwain Knight officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
Roland Warren Escue was born June 28, 1942, to Charles and Carol Escue. He passed from this life on April 20, 2025. The son of a career Army officer, Roland grew up living all over the US, and in Germany after World War II. He also spent much time with his Pappy Roe Massey, who taught him many important life lessons Roland later passed on to his own family, including his infamous mantra "Be kind to people and hard on issues". Roland attended Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian College before he joined the Army National Guard. He quickly transitioned to a successful long career with the telephone company, beginning with Southwestern Bell in the Texas panhandle. Roland excelled at management of people and projects. In 1973, he moved his young family to San Antonio, including daughters Carolyn and Sharon from his first marriage. There he met, and in 1980, married the love of his life, Sharon. Roland was a man that you could count on, his momma often said he was "born grown up". Roland was always thoughtful and generous. He was always quick to offer a kind word to all people he encountered. He was a patient, loving, and devoted family man. His grandsons, Cade and Brandon, were his pride and joy. Roland often joked that he had been outnumbered by women in his family until the boys were born. He is and will always be sorely missed by those who love him. For those closest to him, his memory will live on, especially when we call to mind his cheerful "Who loves you baby?!"
Roland was proceeded in death by his parents Charles and Carol Escue; father-in-law Watson Hall; mother-in-law Clara Oldham; brother-in-law Jerry Hall; and sister Janet Eaton.
