In Loving Memory of Roland Howard Greaux July 31, 1944 – July 14, 2025 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roland H. Greaux, age 80, on July 14, 2025, in Monroe, Georgia. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Roland was born on July 31, 1944, in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to the late Louis and Eulalia (Hughes) Greaux. He was preceded in death by his brothers Wilbur Greaux, Reed Greaux and sister Ruth Schulhoff. Roland was known for his lifelong love of Volkswagen Beetles, a passion he shared with his son Roland II. He spent many years working for Benrus Watch Factory on St. Thomas before embracing his entrepreneurial spirit and opening his first auto repair business, Quality Auto & Accessories in Contant, St. Thomas. Among his proudest accomplishments was building a race car that won numerous competitions, both in St. Thomas and Atlanta, capturing both hearts and trophies. His son Roland II shared his passion, and together they worked on many projects. Later in life, he and his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he opened his second automotive shop, Lilburn Foreign Car Repairs, Inc., continuing his work in foreign ands domestic car repairs. Even after retirement, when he began leasing out the shop, Roland never lost his enthusiasm for cars or his knack for fixing anything mechanical. Above all, Roland was a family man. His quiet strength, gentle humor, and unwavering dedication were constant in the lives of his loved ones. He adored his wife of 58 years, Sonia Martinez Greaux, who faithfully cared for him throughout his later years. Their love was a living example of devotion and partnership. He also took immense pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandson, finding joy in their lives and accomplishments. Roland's passion for cars, especially Volkswagens and drag racing, was something he passed down not just to his son Roland II but to his daughter Melissa as well. That same love took root in his grandsons Dylan and Brayden, who grew up admiring their Papa's stories, his hands-on skills, and the pride he took in every car he worked on or raced. Beyond the mechanical knowledge passed down to them, it was the time shared, talking, laughing, and storytelling that made those moments unforgettable. His bond with his children Melissa and Roland II, daughter-in-law Amber, and grandsons Dylan and Brayden was filled with love, respect, and an ever-present sense of togetherness that will live on in all of us. He was incredibly proud of his grandsons Dylan and Brayden and his great-grandson Oakland. His face would light up when he spoke about them, and he found so much joy in watching their lives unfold, knowing his legacy of love, strength, and curiosity would continue through them. Through every season of life, Roland was lovingly cared for by his wife Sonia. Her devotion to him, in sickness and in health, never wavered. She was his constant companion, his strength, and his peace. Their marriage was more than a commitment. It was a partnership built on love, faith, and quiet devotion. Roland was her first and only love, and their union was a beautiful testament to loyalty and the kind of love that lasts a lifetime. He is survived by his loving wife Sonia Martinez Greaux; daughter Melissa Margarita Greaux of Monroe; son Roland Howard Greaux II and his wife Amber Greaux of Loganville; grandson Dylan Hardy White of Cumming and his partner Caitlin McHan and their son Oakland Hardy White; grandson Brayden Hardy White of Monroe and his partner Lauren Wood; and brother Gustave Greaux of Pennsylvania and his family; the Moron family in St. Thomas, the Buice and Martinez families in Panama City, and many other relatives on St. Thomas too numerous to mention. He will be remembered as a man of great integrity, quiet wit and deep love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. A service celebrating Roland's life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 209 South Hammond Drive, Monroe, Georgia 30655 with Pastor Anthony Costa officiating. The family will begin receiving visitors at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service starting promptly at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Hill Haven Memory Gardens, 490 Edmondson Road, Monroe, GA 30656.
