Roland P. Paquette, age 87, of Prospect and formerly of Waterbury passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at his home. He was the devoted companion of Judy LaMadeleine for over 14 years. Roland was born on June 16, 1937 in Waterbury, son of the late Albert and Alice (Lefeve) Paquette.
He served his country with honor and pride in the US Army from 1955-1963. For the next five decades, Roland was a long-haul truck driver for various companies, eventually retiring from DART Transit Company.
He earned many prestigious awards & recognitions for driving more than four million miles without a single accident. For the past several years, Roland has shared his knowledge, skills and passion for commercial truck operations as a well-respected CDL instructor with All State Commercial Driver Training School
Roland is the beloved father of Suzanne Dietrich and her husband, Michael of Canal Fulton, OH. He also leaves his loving grandchildren: Christopher (Julie) Dietrich, Brian Dietrich, Laura (Luke) Poslowski and Brian White, his cherished great-grandchildren: Kierra, Bianca, and Andy Poslowski, and Vincent Dietrich. Also left to mourn his passing are Judy’s daughters, Dawn Watson of Utah and Karen (Jim) Schirmer of Sammamish, Washington, as well as Judy’s seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who thought the world of him. Roland was predeceased by his infant daughter, Janice Lynn Paquette, his son, Steven R. Paquette; and his late wife, Sandra O. (Outtrim) Paquette.
Friends may greet Roland’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 2PM until 4PM.
