Roland Wajd Obituary
Roland Rasheed Wajd slept away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Roland was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 11,1939. Roland attended local schools in the Duval County Public School System, in which he proudly graduated.
He was the former owner of Cooks Oil Service. Where he provided fuel for many families. He also was the owner of Import Export Services, where he facilitated the international buying and selling of goods. He owned multiple real estate properties.
He was employed with the local International Longshoreman's Association #1408. He retired after sixty-three years of dedicated service. He was unselfish in his skills, shared with his coworkers, he was dedicated and admired by his employers and peers.
He was previously a member of Greater Payne African Methodist Episcopal Church for the majority of his life. He moved his membership to Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
Roland was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Roland brought immeasurably joy and light into our lives with his kind heart, ruby radiant smile, and boundless positivity. Roland will leave his wit and charm, his will to never give up, but always push forward. He is leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Roland walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone he encountered and encouraged with an unforgettable grace. Roland enjoyed collecting foreign banknotes for years, and had a passion for dancing.
Roland Wajd was preceded in rest by his wife, Jacquleyn Wajd; parents, Vivian and Otis Stevens; father, Oscar J. Pickett; sons, Bobby Mainor and Joshua Callahan Pickett; sisters, Velma Stevens and Cheryl Horace; and brothers, Walter Stevens and Otis Stevens, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, sons, Roland Mainor (Phyllis), Vernard Mainor, and Donald McCray; daughter, Ashley Macon. He was also survived by, his bonus sons, Earl Jones, Bernard Jones, Craig Jones, and Colonel Phelemon Williams, II (Lily); bonus daughters, Angela Patterson (TK) and Anita Williams; grandchildren, Laquanta Mainor-Caldwell (Lilton), Shuanitia, Rolanda, Amisha, Jabari, Joyce, Jadein, Jordan, Leonard, Darrius, India, Jaida, Marie, Aaron, Donte, Josh Jr., Roland lll, Tyrese, Trinity, Tyler, Tatum, and Kyndall and a host of great grandchildren. He was survived by five brothers, Reverend Augusta Robinson (Ruth), Anthony Stevens (Minh), Irving Stevens (Melony), Robert Stevens and Frederick Stevens; sisters, Lorraine Roberts, Reverend Sandra Stevens, Catherine Worrell, Margaret Russ and Pamela Cain. He has three sisters-in-law, one brother-in- law and a host of loving, sorrowing relatives, special friends, and his union brothers and sisters.
