Virginia Beach - Roland William Young III, a devoted husband, esteemed veteran, and respected businessman, passed away on November 24, 2025, in
Virginia Beach, Virginia after complications with diabetes. Born on November 11, 1969, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Roland lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love. He was 56 years old at the time of his passing.
A graduate of Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 1987, Roland proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. His time in the Navy instilled in him values of honor, courage, and commitment, which he carried throughout his life and career.
Following his distinguished military service, Roland embarked on a successful civilian career as a security supervisor at Silbar Security and BAE. With an entrepreneurial spirit and determination, he eventually established his own security company, where he continued to demonstrate leadership and integrity.
Roland proudly served his community as a volunteer EMT with the City of Virginia Beach and was honored to assist with the recovery efforts of 9/11 as well as multiple hurricane disasters.
Roland was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Roland and Joyce (Pelletier) Young. He is survived by his cherished wife, Sunnie L. Young, adored children Katelyn, Jamie, Brittany, Jacquilynn (Jacob) and Cheyanne, his grandchildren, Whittni, Bailee, Connor, Leighton, Hayden, Madison, Mason, and Logan as well as numerous other family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
As the family navigates this difficult time, they take comfort in the love and support from those who knew Roland. No services are planned at this time.
