To the family,
My sincere prayers are with you. Rolanda and I first met as counselors in JCPS. I was her mentor and it was an instant friendship and grew into a sisterhood. I will miss our weekly conversations, outings and the laughter that we shared. She will be missed so much and I loved her dearly.

I met Rolanda at Roosevelt-Perry while she was student teaching. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. She had such an amazing personality and didn´t meet a stranger. I will always remember her beautiful smile! Take your well deserved rest.

TO THE FAMILY OF ROLANDA,
MY NAME IS GORDON GHOLSTON AND I COME TO YOU ON BEHALF OF THE MALE HIGH CLASS OF `76 REUNION COMMITTEE. WE WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR DEEPEST AND SINCERE SYMPATHY FOR OUR FALLEN CLASSMATE. I KNOW IT SEEMS THAT LIFE ISN´T FAIR IN THE PASSING OF ROLANDA AND SHE´S GONE TOO SOON. BUT GOD DOESN´T TAKE ANY SCRUBS. HE KNOWS WHAT WAS BEST FOR ROLANDA. SHE WAS ONE OF THE GOOD ONES. I MET HER AT BAND CAMP IN 1973 AT KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY FOR MALE´S BAND. I REMEMBER HER AS BEING A SWEET, SMART, DEPENDABLE, AND SPIRITUAL PERSON. AT ONE OF OUR REUNIONS SHE WAS CALLED UPON TO DELIVER THE OPENING PRAYER. AND "OH" DID SHE DELIVER. SHE WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO HELP OUT WHEN NEEDED. WE´RE ALL GONNA MISS YOU ROLANDA. GET YOUR REST CLASSMATE. SEE YOU AT THE CROSSROADS.

Rolanda and I met at Male High School. She was one of the nicest people I've ever known. Rest in peace classmate.

Rolanda met no strangers! If we were at Woerner or Male and we knew each other, it was more than likely because Rolanda introduced us. There are so many memories! From hamburgers at Alice's on Bardstown to cutting school to get donuts, to band camp at Kentucky State, to singing in Male Gospel Chorus, West Louisville, and the Williams ensemble. Getting candy everyday at the hardware store. Shenanigans in the Oak Street bus. And always laughter! We were even bridesmaids in each other's weddings. Over the years and with the distance, we always kept in touch. Rest on my friend since 7th grade. See ya later!
