Rolando De Guia Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory - Gwinnett Chapel on Dec. 3, 2025.
Obituary

Rolando Cariño De Guia, affectionately known as Rolly or Lando, passed away November 28, 2025 in his home in Lawrenceville GA. Rolando was born July 28, 1960 in Iba, Zambales in the Philippines to Gadio De Guia Sr† and Valentina Cariño†. He was the second youngest of 12 siblings, Eulogio†, Lucena †, Daniela†, Domingo, Nena†, Arsenia, Justo†, Sotero, Adronico†, Nelson†, Gadio Jr., and Eleonor. Rolando married Agnes Abrigo on January 1, 1989 in Iba. They have two children, Kerlyn Jane and Kevin.

Rolando grew up in the Philippines and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from FEATI University in 1988. In 1992 he moved with his family to Forest Hills, New York in the United States before eventually settling in Lawrenceville, Georgia in 2005 where he spent many years working in facility maintenance.

Rolando will be remembered for his kindness, energy, and generosity. He was known for using his skills as a handyman to help everyone around him with household projects that ranged from car maintenance to home repairs. He was also an avid gardener and cook who enjoyed sharing his love of long walks, good food, music, and karaoke with his many friends and family members throughout the years. Those who knew him will always remember the loud music he would play while doing projects around the house. Rolando was also a strong believer in the value of education. In addition to supporting and encouraging the education of his own two children, Rolando sponsored the education of his nieces and nephews. He always kept up with friends and family from far away and made friends everywhere he went.

Visitation will be December 6, 2025 8am to 9am with a celebration of life service to follow at 9am. The service will be live-streamed to allow family in the Philippines to attend from abroad.

Pallbearers include his son Kevin, brother-in-law Arnel, son-in-law Tyler, nephew Michael, nephew Albert, and close friend Sonny.

His ashes will return to the Philippines for an additional service with family and friends to be buried back in his country of birth that he loved so much.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Rest in peace Daddy, until we meet again. We love you.
