Rolando “Lando” Martinez
Age 48 of Minooka, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at home with his loving family and friends by his side. He was a beloved father, life partner, and a true friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rolando was born on May 30, 1975 in Aurora to Maria E. Martinez. He spent most of his childhood in Joliet. Throughout his life, Rolando was known for his loyalty. He would be by your side no matter the circumstance. He was faithful and trustworthy, always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement to anyone, no matter what challenges they faced.
More than anything, Rolando was a devoted partner. He loved spending time with his better half and fiancée: Veronica Bibian. He took pleasure being around his son, Nick, and all his family and friends. He loved being outdoors, taking his Siberian husky, Snow, on long walks. He was a sports enthusiast. In his free time, Rolando spent much of his time with family and friends attending and watching sports, particularly his favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed sharing all of his new experiences, including traveling adventures, with others.
Rolando is survived by his longtime loving fiancée: Veronica and his son: Nicholas. Also surviving are his mother: Maria E. (Lorenzo) Martinez; siblings: Evaristo Guerrero Jr, Rachel (Mitch) Martinez, Abel (Rickey) Martinez, Christina Gonzales, numerous nieces and nephews, and a countless number of friends that were like family, showing him love, to the end. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
His fiancée would like to give thanks to Dr. T. Mohammed, his team at the University of Chicago, and Lightways hospice for their outstanding care. Most importantly, thanks to all of those that helped him along in this journey with their presence and words of encouragement all the way through.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service which will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
