Roma Andreasen Obituary

Roma Andreasen, age 90, passed away on December 14, 2025, at Fairfield Village assisted living center in Layton, Utah.

Roma was born on February 23, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Roma Singleton Wakefield and Bruce Wakefield. The day after Roma was born, her mother died of meningitis and complications from a car accident. Her father was unable to care for an infant, so she was raised the daughter of Robert and Faun (Singleton) Dahle (her great-aunt). She had an idyllic childhood in Ferron (Emery County), Utah. At the end of 7th grade her family moved to Logan, where she attended Logan Jr. High School. In 1950 her family moved to Richmond where she attended North Cache High School, graduating in 1953.

While attending Utah State University, Roma married Clifford Robbins Andreasen in the Logan Temple on October 29, 1954. She interrupted her studies to have two children, Bryon (1956) and Betty (1958). She finished her degree in Child Development and Elementary Education at USU in December 1959. Another child, Barbara, followed in 1961.

Roma had two great passions in life. One was school teaching. Starting in 1960, she taught 2nd grade for 10 years, 3rd grade for 10 years, and 4th grade for 14 years-for a total of 34 years (teaching in three different schools in the Cache School District-North Logan Elementary, Hyde Park Elementary, and North Park Elementary). After retirement, she assisted at Greenville Elementary for another 5 years. She always enjoyed decorating her room and creating special programs for her classes to perform. Many former students fondly remember her reading to them every day from classic children's books. She was awarded Outstanding Teacher of the Year at North Park Elementary (1992-93) and Cache County District Teacher of the Year (1993-94).

Roma's other great passion was her family. She loved going on annual summertime trips with the family to National Parks, historic sites, and museums around the country. She encouraged her children to work hard and develop their talents. She tirelessly supported them in their schoolwork and many activities. And she was always there to help and console when life got hard. She continued the pattern with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking great interest in each of them individually. Her Logan home became a dormitory for many of her grandchildren who attended USU; it thrilled her to be involved with them at that exciting time in their lives and to get to know them better. Her proudest accomplishment was her family.

She was known in her neighborhood for her kindness and beautiful flower beds. She loved animals, especially stray cats that she rescued from homelessness. She always tried to make life better for everyone.

She is survived by her grateful children, Bryon Andreasen (Judy), Betty Midgley (Paul), Barbara Leishman, 9 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, brothers Sam Dahle (Jana) and David Wakefield (Pam), and sister Clara Thomas (Don). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Robert Dahle.

Funeral Services will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E 400 N, Logan, Utah, on Monday December 29, 2025, at 11 am. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.

In Roma's memory, you may consider donating to the School of Teacher Education & Leadership in the USU Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services at http://usu.edu/advancement/give/memorial/romaandreasen in support of students pursuing degrees in Elementary Education.

Roma and I taught in classrooms right next to each other for several years. She was an outstanding educator, mentor and friend. I was always certain the students we shared had an excellent chance of making great gains when she was involved in their education. She leaves an outstanding legacy of family and friends.

Roma was a dear friend, colleague, and great example of caring for others. One day after school as we talked we discovered that we had something in common. As a child, I had lived in the Singleton home when my father was a dentist in Feron. My father“s name was Da Costa Clark. Loved and appreciated Roma so much!! No
