Roma Engdahl Obituary

Roma Jean Engdahl

December 27, 1930 - July 12, 2025

OMAHA, NE – Roma J. Engdahl, age 94, of Colon, Bayard, Elkhorn, Waterloo and Plattsmouth, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Roma lived a remarkable life filled with kindness, independence and joy. As a young woman, she left Nebraska to work in Phoenix and Chicago before returning home, where she met her husband, Carrol Engdahl, at a dance hall in Arlington. They shared 23 years of marriage before his passing in 1979. Roma was a proud Swede, an intrepid traveler, devoted concertgoer, natural storyteller and faithful Christian. She never knew a stranger and was beloved by many for her laughter, warmth and generous spirit.

She is survived by her brother Larry Swanson; son K.C. (Zoe) Engdahl; daughter Cara (Stan) Olson; granddaughter Kristyna Engdahl (Eric Hinze); grandsons Aidan Heim and Jeremy (Terri) Birch; and many cherished extended family members. Preceded in death by parents Lloyd and Ethel Swanson; sister-in-law Jean Swanson; and in-laws Paul (Vernelle) Kellogg, Chuck (Ilene) Lundquist and Keith (Mary) Berquist.

Known lovingly as Mee Maw, Roma will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 10 a.m. at the Nebraska Masonic Home. Memorials to The Nebraska Masonic Home or Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
