I had the good fortune and privilege to know Roman, initially as a student and later as a colleague. He was dedicated and humble, and carefully imparted his lifelong wisdom to many. 25+ years later I still reflect on an invaluable life´s lesson from him - you´re never too old to stop learning or too good to stop honing your craft. He was a brilliant Renaissance man and true patriot who leaves an indelible footprint. Mitzi, you two were obvious lovebirds who delighted in each other....i pray you draw comfort from your family in this difficult time. May his memory be eternal.

I only knew Roman for a short time in early 2000s, but his formidable yet quiet presence left a lifelong impression. Condolences to Mitzi and the entire Halla clan and may the spirit of Roman find peace.

Having served as both a student and manager with Roman, I can attest that he was the quintessential gentleman with the patience of a Saint. His contributions to the world in general and the national security of nation is immeasurable. God speed, Roman. Know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
