Roman Damonte Nelson-Flynn

Roman Damonte Nelson-Flynn, the precious son of Rico Demont Nelson Jr. and Sierra Grace Flynn, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at just six months old.
Born on January 27, 2025, Roman may have only been here for a short time, but he filled every day with joy, laughter, and love. From the moment he arrived, Roman captured the hearts of all who met him. His family celebrated his coming into the world with a Cookie Monster-themed baby shower, fitting for the chubby-cheeked baby boy who quickly earned the nickname "Cookie" and delighted in trying new foods. He truly loved to eat and had the most expressive little face when discovering new flavors.
Roman was a happy baby with a big personality. He was spoiled with love as the first grandchild on both sides, and he soaked up every ounce of affection. He loved animals and was especially fond of being in the water; his family lovingly called him their little "water baby."
Roman is the beloved grandson of Glyniss & Jerry Gibson of Douglasville, Georgia; Rico Nelson Sr. of St. Mary's, Maryland; Tiffany Allums of Alabama; and Daniel & Tonya Flynn of Carrollton, Georgia. He is the cherished great-grandson of Wendell & Kathy Edwards Sr. of Douglasville, Georgia; Julia & Thomas Taylor of St. Mary's, Maryland; and Charlotte Burnett of Palmetto, Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Jack Burnett and Lawrence Nelson, and his dear aunt, Jazmiah "TT" Nelson.
Roman leaves behind a host of aunties, uncles, cousins, and many sorrowing family members and friends. Though his time here was brief, Roman brought an abundance of joy and left behind memories that his family will carry in their hearts forever.
A memorial service to celebrate Roman's life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Trey Gass officiating. A repass will follow in the funeral home's Care Center, located at 108 Central High Road, Carrollton, Georgia.
