Roman T. Szwarc

Roman T. Szwarc of Kendall Park, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Parker at Somerset. He was 98 years old.
Born in Lodz, Poland he resided in Holland before migrating to the United States in 1957 settling in New Brunswick, moving to the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick 43 years ago.
Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked as a Cabinet Maker with New Brunswick Store Fixtures of Edison and New Brunswick for 30 years.
"Opa", as he was lovingly known, enjoyed Photography, Handcrafting, Woodworking, Western Movies and Traveling. At the age of 59, he built a 24 foot sailboat by hand in his backyard which he enjoyed sailing. When he was 82, after his wife passed, he took an 8000 mile solo trip around North America, often stopping in places he had visited with her on previous adventures. He also loved his Great Dane, Caruso, and spending time with family, often playing pinochle or Rummikub.
He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Elizabeth (Kelberlin) Szwarc; his loving wife of 55 years Bernadina (2007); 3 brothers George, Emil and Zdzislaw Szwarc.
Surviving are his children Lisa Courtney and her husband Bill, Bob Szwarc and his wife Christine; 4 beloved grandchildren Jessica Da Silva and her husband Ricardo, Brian Courtney, Jack and Miles Szwarc; 2 great grandchildren Stella and Hunter Da Silva
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm in The GLEASON FUNERAL HOME, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset. Funeral services on Monday December 30, 2024 at 9:30am from the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at St Augustine of the Canterbury Church, at 10:15am. Entombment in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.
