Romano Romani

Romano was born in Chicago, IL, on March 24, 1930 where he attended grade school and high school. He received a B.S. and a M.S. degree from Eastern Oregon College. He also received a M.S. degree from the University of Oregon. He was a Little All American Football Player. He started teaching and coaching at Neah-Kah-Nie School in 1955 and then moved on to North Bend High School. He spent 33 years in the classroom and 45 years as a football and baseball coach. He spent 38 years with the military between both the National Guard and Army, (from Private to Major). Romano was an avid golfer, racquet ball player, and loved to play cards. Romano married Valerie Kellogg in 1952, and then married Linda Lilly on June 18, 1981. He is survived by a brother, Remo; he had 5 children, Nancy Soleim (Dick), Vikki Whitmore (John), Tony Romani, Cindy Gibson (Rod) and Kevin Lilly (O’Teaka). He also had several grandchildren as well as several great grandchildren. He was a life member of the Elks, the Lions Club and American Legion. He has been an Elder of the Presbyterian Church, Board of Directors for the Juniper Golf Club and Sierra Dawn Estates where he was President. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame at Eastern Oregon University in 2003. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Community Presbyterian Church, 529 NW 19th St. Redmond, Ore. 97756.
