Romelia "Melita" Gomez

Las Cruces – Romelia "Melita" Gomez, 66, of Las Cruces NM, was called home on October 13, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Melita was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Eddie and Emma Gamboa on January 19, 1959. She was a devoted wife to Ruben, her Ori, for 45 years. Loving mother to Janine (husband Gabe), Michael, and Joseph (wife Jessie). Proud Grandma to Kassandra, Jazlyn, Michael, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Jacob, and little Julianna. Great Grandma to Ke'Nen, Ka'Leah, and Ka'Mia.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ruben, daughter Roxanne, her parents, sister Dolores, and brother Eddie. Along with numerous cherished and treasured family members and friends.
Melita was a proud retired librarian and had a passion for creative writing, she aspired to become a children's book author. She was known by those closest to her for her feisty and witty personality and the deep love she showed. She had a great sense of humor and a love for all sports, especially football.
Our family extends its gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has called, prayed, sent their love and condolences, and shared their beloved memories of her with us.
