Romuald Dominique was born on February 8, 1953 in St. Lucia, to parents, Antoine Louis and Madge Dominique Louis. He attended school at St. Dominique Xavier Boys Catholic School in St. Lucia.
As a youth, he was very adventurous and did not want to stay in school, and being the adventurer he was, he migrated to the island of Martinique. There, he worked in the cane fields, traveling back and forth between the islands.
In 1985, he moved to New York with his sister. There he learned masonry and construction, proudly recounting stories of him being employed during the construction of the towers like the Regency Towers in New York City.
Romuald also met his lovely wife, Mildred, in Brooklyn. They moved to Orlando, Florida, where he then became employed with Lake Buena Vista Construction Company at Disney until he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
He was a strong man. His later years were spent caring for his wife, Mildred who had suffered a stroke. Even after he himself having survived two brain surgeries, he was still able to care for his wife throughout her illness and until her passing. Romuald's leisure time was spent listening to country music. His favorite artist was George Jones. He also enjoyed Reggae music and touring the neighborhood with his confidante and copilot.
Romuald was a very humble, caring, loving, strong, and faithful family-oriented man who came from a devout Catholic background. Although he was an only child, he had numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles who treated him like a prince. He was special, often speaking about his twin brother whom he had only met in the womb.
He would often reminisce about his past, from humble beginnings, talking about his many relatives, the good old fun times, the cricket matches, the old school dances that he attended, the delicious dumpling meals that he would prepare, taking long drives across Florida (without the use of any navigator), and the winters of New York City. His son-in- law, Darrain, selflessly took care of him at home during his last year of illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Dominique; father, Antoine Louis; mother, Madge Louis; twin brother who passed at birth; and sister, Rachel.
Romuald is survived by one daughter, Apollonia D. Calixte (Darrain) of Orlando, Florida; one grandchild, Zeva, who was his world.
